When Matoppie first started operations in 2003, we became BASF'S distributor for their Textile Products for Printing, Dyeing, Pretreatment, Finishing, Coating and Weaving for Southern Africa.
Former key employees from BASF joined Matoppie as Technical Sales Managers to provide technical expertise in our various fields. Matoppie also manufactures BASF Textile Products under license from BASF.

We have meanwhile extended our product range offering Reactive-, VAT-, Disperse- and Acid dyes from Colourtex. The dyes are used for Dyeing and Printing of Textiles. Additionally we have broadened our assortment to include Rotary Screens and Textile Printing Chemicals from international market leaders in Germany.

Since our beginnings the business with Leather Chemicals has been an important segment of our product range. The main partners for the Leather business are Smit & Zoon, NL, Colourtex, India and Langro Chemie, Germany. Our Technical Sales Manager services products for beamhouse, tanning/retanning, fatliquoring/waterproofing, drum dyeing, finishing and shoe finishing/aftercare.

Africa is the key market for Matoppie, servicing the Textile- and Leather Industry in Sub-Saharan Africa.

BASF Performance Chemicals are a vitally important part of our product range, which include surfactants, emulsifiers, dispersing agents, chelating agents, biocides and waxes as well as dyes and pigments from Colourtex.

Polymer dispersions, resins/tackifiers and additives for Architectural Coatings, the Construction industry, Adhesive manufacturers and for Fiber bonding round up our portfolio of products.
